The verified GRAVHOUNDS gameplay loop

GRAVHOUNDS sends a player or a cooperative crew of up to four canine workers to hostile alien worlds. The official descriptions outline a repeating job structure:

  1. Land on a planet and explore the work area.
  2. Gather resources needed for the operation.
  3. Build connected industrial and defensive infrastructure.
  4. Fight increasingly dangerous alien swarms.
  5. Improve the crew during the shift.
  6. Decide when to extract and return with the job's rewards.

That sequence combines action, base construction and a rising risk decision. It is not yet detailed enough to establish an optimal route, exact mission timer or recommended build order.

How gravity fits into play

Steam describes gravity manipulation as a central tool. Gravhounds can use gravity beams to move resources, enemies and pieces of the environment. The store copy frames this as both practical job-site work and combat interaction.

The available text does not confirm exact controls, cooldowns, weight limits or whether every character's gravity tool behaves differently. Footage can suggest interactions, but those details should wait for documentation or hands-on testing.

Building the operation

Official store material names generators, refineries, turrets and pipelines among the systems a crew can construct. Xbox wording also refers to fabricators. Taken together, the listings support an industrial network that processes gathered material and helps defend the site.

The relationship between facilities is not fully documented. It is safe to say that the crew builds and protects infrastructure. It is not safe to publish exact production ratios, placement rules or an efficiency tier list.

Stay longer or extract?

The central tension is time spent on the planet. Official descriptions say threats escalate while the team works. Staying longer can produce greater rewards, but it also increases the chance that the swarm overwhelms the base or crew. Extraction is therefore a strategic choice, not just an automatic end screen.

Players can receive upgrades during a shift. The current sources do not publish the full upgrade pool, stacking rules or persistent progression economy. The Steam Early Access plan says more upgrades and progression are planned over time.

What remains unknown before public play

No reliable source currently supports weapon rankings, character builds, map routes, enemy statistics or a beginner economy guide. The public characters page therefore limits itself to the reported roster, and the beginner guide remains deferred. Once a public playtest or Early Access build provides stable evidence, this overview can link to hands-on guides without rewriting promotional material as strategy.
